The design proposal serves as a reflection of Dr. Martin Luter King Jr., of his message and the civil rights movement he led. Each of these aspects is explicitly portrayed in physical form to give the visitor an inclusive overview of the influence of Dr. King. In General the design strives towards seamless integration at all scales with the powerful site on which it rests. In other words, the transparent nature of the memorial respects the views and geometrical planning of this nations capital on a large scal and respects the natural beauty of the site at the local scale.
