ES Home:
Patent Pending
The “ES home” wireless home energy monitor. The device, of simple and minimalist design, can be carried to every room in order to assess the successes and failures of both individual objects and room summaries. In addition to the device, all of the information can be viewed directly on a computer as well.
When the unit is in its dock, or not in use, screensavers such as the tree design shown, abstractly indicate the efficiency status of your home. These vary depending on the “health” of the building.
The home page (not shown) gives links to all the possible output versions listed below. It also shows monthly energy use and cost, with updates in real-time. There are links to summary information on energy use per room, per user, and per appliance group. Bar graphs illustrate weekly consumption relative to ideal efficiency and surveyed averages. Weekly graphs can be displayed for each room, user, or appliance group. Hourly line graphs display the energy consumption as a function of time. These can be displayed for each room, user, or appliance group.
In the individual room pages monthly energy use and cost is displayed and updates in real-time. Problem appliances illuminate from yellow to red to indicate the severity of the problem. From this screen, one can click on individual appliances for further information. These detailed appliance pages (not shown) would also allow users (where applicable) to operate the fixtures, turning lights on and off, and to set timers. |
