"Nano-City" is an exhibit based on a story commissioned by Fluant Magazine in 2006 which is in itself based on a story written in 1961 by the Italian Group "Superstudio" called: Seventh City. Our aim is to make a counterpoint to the original story: in that technological development from within the fields of design and architecture can be focused to transcend ecological equilibrium; to have positive embodied energy assessments, material reductions and even change living pattern trends. The concept behind Nano-City" is that technological advance and ecological responsibility are not necessarily a contradiction in terms. The exhibit is composed of many small robots running beneth a bed of magnetic ferro-fluid. Also, yes, the exhibit was around long before the Berkeley Research Group by the same name.
